Covenant by the Blood of Jesus

Appreciated this with coffee and thanks, this morning.

Disciples of hope

As a Christian, one must always regard the New Covenant with great respect. For it was founded by the shedding of Jesus Christ in atonement for sins of the whole world. Lets first reflect on the following two scriptures:

  • For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)
  • The one who commits sin is of the Devil, for the Devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the Devil’s works. (1 John 3:8)

Adam and Eve sinned against God and therefore lost God’s friendship and favor. Death entered by sin into the human race. The main work of the Devil (by his own choice against God’s will) on…

Hebrews – A Wealth of Insight

Tending to be more of a parable-user/storyteller, it is advantageous to know, with understanding, that which we describe and why. How we portray our character(s), subject matter, etc.; that is of great import, as we should do so, endeavoring to be most accurate. Below, you will find the first chapter of the book of Hebrews; its author is unknown but the subject matter should certainly not remain unknown to anyone professing faith and following in Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 1 King James Version (KJV)

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (Until Jesus arrived on Earth, as a man, God communicated primarily through other means, people, ways and methods. But in this portion, emphasis and focus become decidedly, intently, fixed upon the Christ.)

Who (Jesus) being the brightness of his (God, the Father’s) glory (See also Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb (Jesus) is the light thereof.), and the express image of his (God)person, and upholding all things by the word of his power (In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God – see John 1), when he (Jesus) had by himself purged our sins (through crucifixion, death and resurrection) , sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. (Ascended and returned to His rightful place in Heaven, the Son with the Father, the Prince with the King)

Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. (Being made might seem a bit of a bewilderment as Jesus is part of the eternal Triune. Perhaps, more accurately from the original word “γίνομαι” which means ” I come into being, am born, become, come about, happen”. This is to say Jesus simply “was” or “became” rather than being created. But due to the person of Jesus, he is much higher than angels (messengers/servants) as God created angels for his use and purpose, by the hand of Jesus (All things were made by him – see John 1:16, Romans 11:36 and/or Colossians 1:16) and Jesus is the direct image of, heir to, son of God and part of the Godhead, whereas angels are not.)

For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God(In all things, God, the Father, remains supreme. Even as Christ came to speak, teach, preach and tell of the Father, he prayed to, did the will of and was submissive to the will and desire of the Father, in all matters). hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: 11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; 12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. (Understand the eternal permanency, perpetuity, and unchangeable character of the Triune, as this describes. Even as the Bible tells us that Jesus, is the same, yesterday, today and forever)

13 But to which of the angels (none, ever) said he (God) at any time, Sit (Jesus) on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

What I wish to express and hopefully, convey with accuracy, is the importance of Jesus Christ, not merely to us the believer, but to God, the Father. Also, since Jesus is of such great import to God, how much, much, much, more must he be to us, the creation? All power and authority is given to Jesus Christ. Salvation is through none other than Jesus Christ. Our only hope of reconciliation and means to the Father is by Jesus Christ. All things that we pray, ask for and receive; they are by Jesus Christ.

Folks, if no other message registers with you, please, endeavor to understand the paramount, crucial, absolute and utter necessity you have, of Jesus Christ in you life. Without him, you and I are as hopeless as hopeless can ever be or become. With and through Christ, all things are made possible and promised. You cannot afford to debate this. And by the way, please take special care to notice that Jesus’ mother, Mary, was not mentioned herein, even once. She is not only unable to help, intercede or advocate for you, but she is also the woman who called Jesus, “my Lord and my savior”.

Grace and peace be with you.

Prophesy Being Exampled Right Now

Firstly, I am not predicting the End Times; the Bible has already, accurately, done so. Secondly, countless others have already given their predictions, interpreted scripture and made their educated guesses. Thirdly, I believe the Bible…period. All that said, indulge me for a moment; I should like to afford you a few scriptures, while, pointing out some things of noteworthy-obviousness.

For instances?
Luke 17:26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. .Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Luke 17:28  It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.”

The Bible, speaks of an obliviousness to the happenings of the world, that people will continue to do what they always did, right up until the very, last moment. Even though, so much is blatantly, plainly, obvious…right before their eyes, people will not see or notice, what surrounds them. And I’ve been watching portions of this for a long while, now.

How many people do you see, in a given day, irresponsibly buying and selling, without the vaguest notice of our economic status? The United States is very, very near to the brink of catastrophic, economical failure and yet, people continue as always. Chasing after the latest, fad diets, sinking thousands of dollars into scrap-heap, imported cars to make them what? More invested-in, pieces of worthless, scrap metal? Concerning over celebrity nonsense, sports enthusiasms and absurd, television programs? Bickering over the legalities, properness and morality of same-sex marriages?

So much, great and terrible, chaos has ensued within our government, political parties and the like, at every level. Local, state, and federal government is more corrupt, failing and brittle than ever before…and we concern over trivial items of daily living as though nothing is the matter.

Not long ago, I watched a video about a group of slaughterhouse cows, having been taken into the care of a group of people for release, into an open pasture. Those cows, once doomed to death as food items, ran, skipped, played, rolled in the grass as care-free, children! They appreciated the freedom they had received and relished in it! It occurred to me that, even they, seemed to be more keenly-aware of their circumstances than most people of this country, of this world.

People, when will you begin to see how you must open your eyes? A certain truth is this; you will realize the severe importance of matters when, the comings-and-goings of this world are halted by the darkening of the Sun and Moon…Matthew 24, style.

More Than Conquerors

In the book of Romans, we read this passage, from chapter 8, verse 37: “Nay, in all things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” But what do we understand from this verse? As with most all verses, there are multitudes or truths, layers of wisdom to be seen. In itself, at face-value, what does this scripture tell us? Foremost and obvious, that we are not made to have partial victory. We are, through Christ, to know, complete, decidedly-biased, utterly-full, absolute victory, in every battle. For we are victorious in and through, Jesus Christ, who reigns, over all.

Yet, in the very same passage, we learn that which we achieve, through Christ, we must also be, as Christ, in all respects. We are made more than  conquerors, we are made…merciful. We are made generous, kind, lenient, loving and forgiving, in Christ. We are not to have enemies, even though, others are enemies toward us, our hearts should remain, loving, toward them. Even those we must overcome and conquer, we should be like Christ, toward them. So that our conquering, may bring them into Christ, by love, seeing the true victory as reconciliation to the Father, rather than defeat by casting out.

When confrontation(s) arise(s) with those of  whom present themselves as an enemy, let us not assume the same manner or nature or status, of their hearts. But let us remain, in and with, the heart of Christ. Being much more, inclined toward reconciling, peacemaking and peacekeeping, rather than a warring heart. Let us first (and always) seek understanding and forgiveness, remaining compassionate and gentle, before all else. If there must be a battle, allow God to fight it, if it must be fought. Allow God to prevail as Christ goes before us with perfected, reason, judgment and discernment.

Even a conqueror can be merciful during the conquest. Not always, does blood need to be spilled or harsh words spoken to arrive at a victorious, outcome. We have much to learn from Christ, much to understand from the character of God, the Father and the gentleness of the Holy Spirit. Let our meekness and mildness, always precede, abstaining from spitefulness, cruelty and mercilessness.

Amen.

Give All, That You May Receive All

With surrender to the Lord, abandoning and forsaking oneself in order to present a perfectly-willing, humble and honest, servant; be prepared to reconcile your account.

That the hope of mercy and grace might be rewarded to you; this is God’s love, which may prosper beyond His judgement. For righteous judgement would spare not, any man. But by the abundance of grace, given by Christ Jesus, we may receive what He has made available to all.

Let there always remain, the Lamb, between us and the Father, with respect to justice in judgement. For by this Mediator, when can be with the Father, without blame.

Having received the gift, by sacrifice, that is our pardon, we are reconciled to our Lord, Most High. No longer blemished but made perfect, in and through Christ, that we may be found innocent and pure.

Heaven AND People, On Earth

Some considerations that many people have not given thought to:

The intermediate Heaven, becomes the “New Heaven” on Earth when it is “coming down with God” and placed upon the “new Earth”. No longer, will God and all the inhabitants of Heaven, reside in a place, separate from the world and men. The completed kingdom and all its splendor, will be moved to Earth, where God and Christ shall reign, with all those who have joined them. Another noteworthy mention? Look at the later scripture, in verse 24; it says that the kings of the earth DO bring their glory and honour into it. Quite enlightening, is the mixture of KJV+Strong’s, when we look at the original context here: http://biblehub.com/kjvs/revelation/21.htm

Revelation Chapter 21

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

21 And the twelve gates [were] twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city [was] pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof.

24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

Transparency

Certainly, it can quickly be surmised that I am not a writer; I’ve not the cleverness, talent or flair. Albeit, one of my most-enjoyed classes was English, seconded only by various sciences, which I deeply love. But no, I am certainly not a writer. What is posted within this blog, that comes from an imperfect, humble, meager and meek, man. Simplicity. I’m not the know-it-all, go-to, all-inclusive source of absolute knowledge and understanding.

The truth of the matter is, I come from a troubled life of long-lived misery, deep despairs and hardships. I’ve known monumental losses, physical and spiritual starvation, phenomenal poverty and mind-breaking isolation. Much of my life has been lived under self-imposed punishment(s) of varying sorts. Records of some of these, I choose to share, almost in a therapeutic means, voicing once-mountainous burdens, along with the outcomes and their teachings.

Foremost, know this, that I am merely a man who, like many others, reached several epiphanies. The greatest among these pivotal, life-altering, truths was the submission to Jesus Christ. Even if I were to say that, on a certain day, the notion of Christ, caused some synapses to fire, in turn, altering my state of mind, the change, nonetheless, occurred. But I do not believe that rubbish to be accurate or true. With complete, candid, honesty, my belief is that Christ, accomplished in me, what I could not, of myself, do.

One does not live a decades-long life of habitual character and find oneself changed upon the following morning. This does not happen. Habits, well, they take much effort and time to break, don’t they? One does not wake up the following morning, no longer drinking, using drugs, lying, cheating, stealing, etc.. And even the vocabulary, what one is in the learned, practiced and habit, if not limitations of; ones normal vocabulary doesn’t just alter itself, does it?

The truths of these things are evident, to me. From one day until the next, was a monstrosity of a man, made different in such respects. And yet, it was even larger, in scale. How does one have this….Ebenezer Scrooge effect without substantial influences of some means? People are creatures of learned habits. People are capable of learning new habits, yes, of course. But they must learn them and that learning must become a habit, which takes time. My life changed, from one day to the next, and the only thing I did was pray to a God that I hoped would answer me with compassion, one night, lying in bed.

Yes, I speak of this often enough. But it still causes me such wonder. The “new creation” shall likely remain, one of my most curious and inquisitive subjects.

Being less than generously, educated, I’m not a finely-schooled, scholastic masterpiece of literary genius. Candidly, I can tell you that any grade school, child could write this with ease. Not supposing myself to be special, but merely admitting and resigning myself to honestly with whomever might read my ramblings, these are truths. Truths that I struggle to convey, explain and share.

How does a hateful, spiteful, man of many years, go to sleep one night and awake the following morning with unquestionable love for every person? How does such a man smile, every day, who never smiled before? How does a man, having not friends or family, consider all to be his friends and family, the following day? The man who cursed with every other word from his mouth, speak love, kindness, grace and forgiveness to all people, from one day to the next?

Being transparently honest, the answer is, without hesitation, reluctance or reservation…Jesus Christ.

When To Be Thankful

t4

What a bright, sunny and wonderful, midday in Tennessee it had been, that summer. Not the faintest hint of clouds to be seen within a powder-blue, lovely sky. My drive home from work was made pleasant enough; the radio turned up loudly enough to sing along with the knowledge of a three-day-weekend, well, that was just great with me.

Pulling into the driveway at my apartment with the car widows down, I lingered a few moments before getting out. Taking the time to appreciate a cool, wind and the smells of country life, a welcomed solitude. Scents of freshly-mown grass and pine needles, wafted through the air while the chirpings of native birds sounded in the distance. A peaceful, pleasant, afternoon.

Padding along the short walkway from the driveway to my front door, juggling an armload of groceries and fumbling for keys, I recall a slight smile of contentment. Inside, the air was cool; the sofa seemed more inviting than most an other thought and so sat down with contemplation of what the weekend might entail.

Within the span of what must have been twenty minutes, the day took on a rather strange, new, face. At once, I began to hear rainfall. While my mind began to puzzle, the puzzlement only increased with each passing second. Curiously, I peered through the drapes at what had previously been such a glamorous day, only to find bewilderment. In mere moments, the sky had become a sickened, greenish-black and produced torrential, rainfall. Most peculiar, beyond the streams of water flowing across the grounds, was that the manner in which the rain came down. Huge droplets, walls and sheets of rainfall, falling with a quite-distinct, curvature; the walls of water did not come down straight, but curved.

Before my mind could begin to process the oddity of what I beheld, as soon as I heard the sounds, the entire ground became white with thousands of hailstones. At once, it was as thought the skies began to rain stones, rather than droplets of water. And then came the darkness, not quite pitch-black, but much liken to early evenings, prior nightfall. Electrical, blue-white fire, roiled through the Elysian fields above, leaving the distinct smell of ozone. The cracklings of lightning were so fierce, I recall. So close, that the ensuing thunder was instantaneous, deafening and concussive.

And as the thought began to register in my mind, the proofs of my fears made themselves manifest. Absolutely, close enough to have thrown and struck it with a baseball, the sky protruded downward…and the tornado was born. Let me say to you, this sounded nothing “like a train” as it is so often described. Watching with heartfelt, panic, terror and awe, the funnel cloud raged. It was as though a four-engine, jetliner had throttled all its engines to maximal power, right in front of my eyes. Such a horrible, dreadful, roar. Bellowing, howling, horrifying.

There was no place to go, time to run or point in either. If the spiraling death, before my eyes, came turned in my direction, I would certainly die. Without any question, I knew this to be a fact. In utter trembling, I stood, awaiting the end of life at the hand of churning destruction while watching large, trees as they snapped like matchsticks before being disintegrated into powder.

As the tornado increased in its fury, cutting a path along the hillside before me, I could make out the absence of everything in its wake. No trees, plants, shrubs…nothing was sparred. It kept going, toward my right, into the neighborhood, consuming all that stood before it, with perfect, ease.

First the trees, then some asphalt, then the first of several cars; one by one, they were taken upward. Soon, a house was swallowed up, completely removed from the face of the Earth. Two more cars, the lawn and everything that once identified someone’s residence, all vanished. And in that very moment, likewise, as though one had flipped the “tornado off” switch, it was over.

At the edge of the property where once the home had been, stood a clothes line, draped with clean, dry, sheets and towels. Not even a blemish of mud, dust or droplet of water on them, the laundry was unaffected. Perhaps, one of the most engrained memories of that day would come to be this sight as I arrived there, having sprinted the distance in hopes of giving aide to anyone. But there were no people, no pets, only the last loads of laundry, carefully hung, by a family who would never again use them.

No, I wasn’t thankful for my survival. In fact, I was angry. For a very, long time, it infuriated me. An entire family, gone away…likely a good family, good people, undeserving of such an end. Upon that now, quiet, street, stood a man who longed for death and was denied it, yet again. My self-imposed penance, evidently, would live onward.

This is but one account, of the multitudinous occasions, wherein, God made a point and I would not take notice. No, I would not read or recognize the giant, neon, sign. It would take many more years, along with countless happenings, before I would finally yield to God. Before I would finally agree to, figuratively-speaking, agree to go to Nineveh or stop, along my Damascus Road.

Not certain as to why I’ve shared this recounting. What good could possibly come from such a story? A stubborn man, racked with grief, self-hatred and anger….who ran, after a tornado, to help people he did not know, believing that he hated them as much as he did himself. Now there is a puzzler that I still wonder about, even to this day.

A Cup, Made Just For Me

So I’m thinking of a little boy. Sitting in a small house, early in the morning, beside a fire. As he sits, his mother brings his breakfast and begins to pour his drink, into a small, wooden cup…and he begins to smile. His smile, comes not from the drink, but of his mother’s love and the wooden cup. The cup was handmade, by Joseph, his father, who is a poor man and carpenter. It was made from a piece of scrap wood, but carved and polished with great pride, love and adoration, for the boy.

As the boy grew, he always used that cup. He carried it with him to school and used it, because it was made, just for him. With some age, however, the other kids began to pick on him because it was, after all, a child’s cup. But it was made, just for him. None of his friends would use it, though he offered; they all said it just didn’t fit their mouth…”you’re the only one who can drink from that silly cup”, they would say.

Many years later, in a garden, as a grown man, the boy prayed. He was very anxious and worried and frightened. He thought about his mother, father and friends as he prayed. With tears flowing down his face, he held that little wooden cup in his hand, thinking of how he wanted to remain with his mother and father.

But he was praying to his father in heaven, this time…pleading with him, to take away THIS CUP, which was made, just for him. This cup, only he could drink from, it only fit his lips…and he recalled the children from school, making fun of him. He thought how cruel the world was, but he loved everyone. He loved them, but he prayed, three times…PLEASE, take this cup from me!! If it is possible, PLEASE!!

After many, many tears and much prayer, his heart, filled with such great love for mankind, gave in. Father, I know it is right to ask, but nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done. This cup should not and cannot be taken away. For it was made, just for me, out of love and only I can drink from it. Fill my cup, Lord, that I may drink from it.

And the little boy set down the wooden cup, walked away from it, trading it for the one he would now have to drink from. It was quite full and it’s taste was bittersweet. But he drank it all. He finished the entire cup and said, “It is finished” as he closed his eyes, thinking of his little, wooden cup.
